People sometimes ask me why do I work out. “But you’re skinny, you're not fat.” they say.
Did I say I was fat? No.
Do I have a perfect body? No, but I don’t work out to have a ‘perfect body’, the two main reasons I work out are:
1. Its good for your physical health
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the main killers in the world. CVD includes a multitude of common illnesses such as; high blood pressure, stroke, myocardial infarctions (heart attacks) and angina. Exercising, healthy eating, reduced alcohol intake and not smoking can prevent the likelihood of developing CVD by 90%, that’s one good reason to be active.
2. Its good for your mind – endorphins
As someone who has suffered from depression in the past, I know how important exercise is for your mood. Exercise boosts ‘feel good’ chemicals in your body (endorphins) by producing higher levels of serotonin and dopamine. 99% of the time after exercising I feel so much better than before I started. I think during the dark, cold winter months its even more important lift your mood with exercise.

At present my favourite forms of exercising are spinning once or twice a week for 30 minutes cardio as its too cold to run, badminton once a week, Pilates and abs work at home 5 days a week and going for walks (when its not raining!).
Don’t get me wrong, I am not an exercise fanatic but I do get enjoyment and a sense of achievement out of a good workout, I feel healthier, have more energy and sure it keeps me in shape!
Owkay Clothing sent me their gorgeous tee and a grey hoodie and I took them for a spin at the gym today. I love the quality of the material of both and the hoodie is so cosy and warm which is welcoming in this weather!
