BEAUTY JOURNEY - STRATFORD DERMATHERAPY CLINIC

I'm no stranger to cosmetic surgery and none invasive cosmetic procedures.

At the age of 23 I had a rhinoplasty (nose job) procedure on my nose. The result wasn’t ‘perfect’ but it was an improvement on my former nose which had a bump on the bridge and was (as my then doctor pointed out to me) wonky from the front too. Think Rachael from Friends pre- nose job, that was me!

For some time I've been mulling over the idea of dermal fillers to perfect my nose and also to slightly enhance my upper lip. I did my research and looked for clinics that have built up a good reputation and have a lot of experience in dermal fillers, I don't want just anyone injecting fillers in my face!

I came across the Stratford Dermatherapy Clinic and read their really lovely testimonials online and also saw that celebrity Gaz Shore had visited them for acne scarring treatment! Their clinics in the UK are held all over in; Stratford-Upon-Avon, Cardiff, Shrewsbury, Stone, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Harrogate, and York so I was really pleased to find a clinic held close to me.

So last week I had the pleasure of meeting the charming Dr Hugo Kitchen and his wife beautiful assistant and wife Carron at one of their dermatherapy clinics. With 29 years of experience, and having treated over 185,000 faces, Dr Hugo knows what he’s doing! Carron and Dr Hugo were both friendly and caring, and put me right at ease! We discussed what I wanted to achieve and what I thought my problem areas were with my face, they even made me rethink my dimples which I wasn't keen on!

NOSE

The tip slightly drooped on one side and had a dip in the middle and the bridge of my nose Dr Hugo noticed that it had a curve to it which elongated the appearance of it from the side view and from the front it narrowed towards the tip. Dr Hugo stopped after each area and asked me to look in the mirror to check I was happy as we were going along.

LIPS

Two years ago I had fillers in my lips, the doctor gave me what I can only describe as the ‘duck’ effect. It was too much and didn’t look good and was very fake in appearance. My previous fillers had all but worn off and we discussed what I wanted to get from lip fillers. Dr Hugo and Carron really emphasised that they wanted to achieve natural looking beauty. I wanted my top lip to curve up a little and Dr Hugo explained how we would achieve this. He advised me that he doesn’t like to use topical anaesthesia on lips as it freezes them and so you can’t see the true outcome.

DOES IT HURT?

Is it painful is one of the most common questions and I guess rightly so, our faces are so vascular and full of nerves.. I’m not going to tell you that you don’t feel a thing as everyone is different and everyone has a different pain threshold and you are reading the blog of the girl who thoroughly enjoyed her experience following cosmetic injections, personally I didn't have any pain during the injections, Dr Hugo knew what he was doing and was a pro with the needle. I was expecting it to be painful when he injected my lips without anaesthetic as they are such a sensitive area but it didn’t hurt at all – very impressed!

THE RESULT

Dr Hugo showed me the before and after pictures next to each other once we were finished. I was absolutely thrilled when I saw the result of my nose and lips, it was instant! The unnatural curve of my nose had gone, the point to the tip was now beautifully rounded and the filler he had added at the top of my nose where it joins my forehead made my nose somehow look smaller and cuter! My top lip had instantly transformed and had been given a very natural lift without looking OTT or too much!

I am so pleased with the work I had done. It is scary how just about anyone can do a quick course and give dermal fillers without the knowledge or the skill to carry out the procedure well. I love the natural smoothe appearance of my nose and lips. So many women I see who have had fillers have the same lips. Carron said that the ‘one look fits all’ that so many practitioners give is wrong and I agree. Dermal fillers need to be given to emphasise individual’s beauty that is already there and be tailored to each patient.

I’m so happy that I have found the Stratford Dermatherapy Clinic that I will be returning to see Dr Hugo in the future to discuss other treatments.

The BIGGEST thank you to Dr Hugo and Carron. You simply cannot put a price on getting your confidence back.
