As a newlywed I wanted to let any bride-to-be's know that no matter how much you prepare, some things will just not go the way you expect them to… and that’s okay! Here are a few bloopers from before we walked down the aisle... enjoy!
I had my hair done not once, but twice on our wedding day! I had it done first thing in the morning as I was advised by a colleague that I needed to make my hair appointment as early as possible as I was going to the venue (an hour away) on the day. Our wedding didn’t start until 2.30 and by lunch time my hair was (as my bridesmaid put it) ‘nice’. Luckily she had hired the lovely Aleksandra Guz who saved my hair (and my sanity) before the ceremony and my hair went from 'nice' to 'beautiful'!
I should add at this point that I was not alone in my pre-wedding troubles. My now husband James could not find his belt. On any other day this would not send him into a panic attack but on our wedding day he fell to pieces, unable to do his tie up or even tie his own shoes. Luckily his sisters were on hand to dress him...and find the belt!!
Before the wedding I had a makeup trial at MAC. I love MAC cosmetics SO much and although I came away from the trial feeling very glamourous, I felt my makeup was too much and not me somehow. As someone who loves makeup and playing around with my look on a daily basis I came to the conclusion that I should do my own on the day. Who knows my face better than me right? Well, that’s all well and good on a normal day. On your wedding day however trying to apply individual lashes (as I had done at home many times before) did not go to plan! Luckily I had taken some strips lashes with me but I ended up having a glass of champagne to calm myself before continuing!
Needless to say we both made it down the aisle with lashes and belts in situ and are currently enjoying our newlywed status, we couldn't be happier!
