I am not low maintenance, especially when it comes to holidays.
My pre-holiday prep involves pedicure, manicure, shaving, fake tanning, bleaching, tooth whitening and waxing. The first thing I checked on TripAdvisor about our hotel was whether or not they have decent hairdryers!
Packing for holiday always fills me with dread. I can be visibly seen to start stressing from approximately a week before I’m due to leave. Questions like: ‘what will I forget’, ‘what if the bag is too heavy’, ‘what if I can’t fit everything in’ etc fill my head and I have sleepless nights leading up to the day were due to fly.
This worrying is pointless but its inbuilt in me to do so and I snap at my poor fiancé the whole car journey to the airport as I am unable to relax until my hold luggage has gone and we have made our way through security.
For probably the first time ever I made it through security without being stopped, body searched or bag examined. Perhaps I finally have this process down!
As I sat on the flight with three giggling girls sat behind me getting rapidly louder as they get drunk on tiny bottles of wine I decided to write down my in-flight essential checklist:
Water
Buy this at the airport as a first port of call. Hydration is so important on aeroplanes as reconditioned air is very drying.
Eye drops
If like me, you can’t go without your mascara (the horror) then eye drops are a blessing on a long flight. My eyes get so dry and red from the air on the plane and a couple of drops keeps my eyes bright and shiny.
Headphones
I adore my silver wireless Bose headphones. They cancel out noise around me and no wires to get knotted in my case! Great for drowning out children and or annoying drunk girls sat nearby!
Moisturiser
I don't go anywhere without my Rodial Dragons Blood Sculpting Gel. This keeps my skin hydrated and I apply a bit mid-flight to keep my skin soft and plump.
Comfortable clothes
On flights I want to be completely comfortable. I don’t wear jeans or tight fitting clothes, today ive opted for a paper dolls maxi dress, an off the shoulder jumper to wear as it gets cold up in the air and some flip-flops to kick off as my feet swell up in-flight! This outfit is comfortable and perfect for pre and post flight in warmer climes.
A good book
Or magazine. Something to get lost in for an hour In flight entertainment can only take you so far. A book is always a good idea especially if your flight is delayed and you are stuck in the airport!
Lip-balm
Like points 1 and 2, hydration is key to surviving the journey and not landing like a shrivelled prune. I take my Rodial 'Glam stick' in 'Just Daisy' which is moisturising and has SPF which doubles up as the perfect sunbathing and moisturising combo.
Your camera
I don’t often leave the house without my camera and an in-flight snap is always obligatory! Mine is an Olympus Pen E-PL7
