For so long I have filled my brows in before even contemplating leaving the house. I have toyed with the idea of permanent brows for a long time but was put off by the thought of them going wrong or not being how I wanted.
As soon as I saw Kelly’s micro-pigmentation portfolio at www.flawlessspecialistaesthetics.co.uk I couldn’t wait to book in for appointment one of the two-part treatment.
It was a huge decision for me to make. I’ve never had any sort of tattoo and my first was to be on my face!
MICROPIGMENTATION
Micropigmentation means that pigment is placed into the dermal layer of the skin as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup. The treatment has come a long way since its inception. The first eyebrow tattoos were very unnatural in appearance and were essentially solid dark brown or black lines. Kelly has studied techniques like feathering to create tiny hair-like lines that resemble real brows.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Kelly went through a health questionnaire first of all and then we discussed how I like my brows to look, how thick, where they should start and end. Kelly is a talented artist with a passion for beauty.
She trained in laser skin therapies and has completed masterclasses in laser operation. She was also trained by the widely publicised and highly respected specialist Lorena Oberg of Dermaeraze of Harley Street, London. She was also a top 10 finalist in the UK Permanent Make Up Championships 2015. I knew that I was in safe hands with her.
DOES IT HURT
Having never experienced any sort of tattooing before aesthetic or otherwise, I was nervous about pain. In truth everyone has a different pain threshold. Personally as someone who had their eyebrows threaded for years it was no more painful than that it just went on a bit longer.
SHAPE AND COLOUR
Kelly beautifully drew on the brow shape first in pen, she warned me it may look quite scary but it didn’t. She spent time measuring where my brows should be and then drew them so beautifully that I would have quite happily walked out of the shop with the penned out drawing on my face!
I was so pleased with the shape she created, it was exactly what I had asked for. She then began artistically creating hair strokes using the shape she had drawn as her guide.
Getting the right colour for your complexion was easy for Kelly. She knew which colour would blend perfectly with my brows.
THE RESULT
When I looked in the mirror I couldn’t believe my eyes. The result was immediate and amazing. My brows looks natural and perfect. Needless to say I had a huge smile on my face!
AFTERCARE
Kelly advised me that the colour would be quite bold to start with but they would fade into a natural tone. She advised me to keep them out of direct sunlight, not to apply makeup to them for 5 days and that they may flake after a few days. She advised me I would have a follow up appointment in 4 weeks to touch any areas up I felt required.
