What is normal? The fashion industry appears to be stuck in an archaic ideal of what models should look like, yet the world we live in is full of ‘diversity,’ making it somewhat contradictory. One of the few designers who has repeatedly used ‘diverse’ models (if that’s what the industry wants to refer to it as) is Becca McCharen, the Head Designer at ‘Chromat.’
With a background in architecture, McCharen’s clothing celebrates the human form. “All our runway models represent who who inspire us, whether it’s trans women, women of color, curve models, that’s my world and that’s the world we live in and that’s who I want to celebrate,” she said.
