Is the term 'nude' in fashion racist?


"Nude” fashion has become a hugely popular term which shows no signs of fading. In fact, you may remember the runner up in the 2014 series (Season 10) of the Apprentice, Bianca Miller, who later went on to start a brand called Bianca Miller London (which was her pitch to Alan Sugar in the series).

According to her Facebook page, ‘Bianca Miller London is a dynamic new brand offering a diverse range of Skin Tone hosiery designed to compliment women of all complexions.’ It then goes on to say ‘Bianca Miller London offers 8 shades carefully selected to satisfy a variety of complexions from English Rose to Sub-Saharan African.’

But is this trend racist? The intention of wearing nude is to give the illusion of bare skin or create the deception of nakedness. For many though, products in this trend are of stark contrast to the wearer’s skin... read more here
