The collapse of the Bangladeshi factory, Rana Plaza in 2013 (which killed more than 1,000 factory workers and injured a further 2,500 people) has caused a seismic shift in the fashion industry. Customers are beginning to move towards the more ethically produced product and reject traditional “sweatshop” fashion.
Livia Firth recently confronted ‘fast fashion’ through her statement of “will I wear this 30 times?” With her husband Colin, she revealed her collection of sustainable clothing items designed by Erdem Moralioglu, at The Wallace Collection. Vloggers such as Tanya Burr have shown their support for the ’30 wears’ campaign.
Livia also helped to produce “The True Cost of Fashion.” This is a film that pulls back the curtain and shows the true impact of fashion on people and on the environment. It asks us to consider, ‘who really pays the price for our clothing?’
