Spring is almost upon us (despite the deep freeze).
With the blooming trees (not quite) and lighter days (it’s still grey) turns the new season in the fashion world.
With the changing seasons come the new additions to my wardrobe. Obviously there are the staples which I will dust off to see another summer, but each season I pick and choose what I like from the catwalk and dismiss what I don’t.
To follow each trend from every fashion week would be nigh on impossible and I won’t purchase something purely because it is the must have item of the moment, instead I select the a few key trends that I like to update my look.
This season I will be focusing on:
The buckle

Whether it's the addition of a belt to tie your outfit together, detail on a bag or on your shoe, this micro-trend is the accessory detail of ss16.
Ruffles

By far the cutest trend of the moment, romance is in the air this spring with cascading ruffles. This season they are minimal and more structured than before and add detail rather than taking away shape or form. Think Victorian collars, off the shoulder pleats asymmetric hemlines and ruffled sleeves.
Cold-shoulder

The cold-shoulder returns for another season in the sun, although I may save this one for the warmer days to come! Personally I do love an off the shoulder outfit whether its a slouchy oversized knit or a Bardot dress. To bring this look into SS16 territory, go for a higher neckline with symmetrical open shoulders, for an on trend look that still retains some warmth!
