Rainy Days

When the weather is as miserable as it is today, its sometimes hard to find the motivation to do things.

So I decided to put a list together of my favourite things to do on a wet and windy day....

Go to the gym.

When its sunny outside the last thing anyone wants to do is be stuck indoors in the gym. Make the most of days like today and get yourself to the gym and attack those winter pounds in prep for the summer (It is on its way). Or if you'd rather not leave the warm confines of you home put on a youtube video and workout at home, this is something that I do most days as it involves no travel and slots in so easily into your life, even if its just 10 minutes. The videos i use are by 'fitness blender'.

Get in the kitchen

On a winters day what is better than a warm, hearty, homemade soup? Check out my recipe for my absolute favourite sweet potato and carrot soup here

Clean your tools

Your makeup brushes harbour bacteria. Whilst you're stuck inside and not going anywhere, make the most of the opportunity to clean your brushes. You can buy brush cleansing sprays from MAC cosmetics but personally I prefer to use baby shampoo.

Polish

My fingernails on average get painted 3 different colours per week, whereas my toe nails are often forgotten about. Mainly because polish on my toes lasts so much longer. Why not treat yourself to a pedicure? You can buy Scholl's Electronic Pedicure here from Boots. My favourite brands for nail varnish are Topshop, OPI and Barry M. I also use Boots cracked heel balm to smoothe my soles, particularly in the summer when I'm wearing flip flops a lot!

Get creative

For Christmas I was given a Johanna Basford Colouring Book. This was by far one of the best gifts. I love switching off and colouring in the beautiful scenes in the book, its a great mindfullness exercise and also a lot of fun!

Read

Reading is known to improve vocabulary, memory, concentration and tranquility- have you got a book that you still haven't gotten round to picking up? Enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea) and a new book snuggled up in a blanket - preferably with cat or dog in situ on your lap!

Online shopping

Shopping centres on rainy days are full of bored people with no where else to go. Why spend hours queueing in traffic and at tills when you can enjoy your favourite shops from the warmth and comfort of your own home!
