All inclusive home from home

January is the time a lot of people choose to plan or book their holidays.
We all know the lure of the all inclusive hotel. No planning meals, everything taken care of and in comparison to staying in the UK, with flights included it can work out very cheap.
But can you have too much of a good thing?
All you can eat buffets serving mainly food from home, beer, wine and cocktails on tap and very little to do but leather ones self by the pool. On an all inclusive holiday last year I looked around
at the growing bellies of the various nationalities and wondered, "is this a good way to spend a week away?"
On the first day of the holiday I was glutinous and ate everything that took my fancy. By the second day however I returned to a mainly healthy diet and started exercising by walks/jogs on the beach and core stengthening. The sight and sound of sunburnt guys from home drunk and disorderly in the pool was enough to put me off drinking for the week.
With an expanding (outwards) population, should 'all you can eat' type holidays really be so cheap? Why are we served up 'English breakfasts' in a foreign country when we should be sampling the local delicacies Isn't the whole point of a holiday to have a break from home and also to experience other cultures?
