Perfume

The perfume counter has always scared me.

Maybe it’s the women that loiter there, looking immaculate and ready to pounce at any second with their perfect manicures clutching at their favourite scent ready to spritz you if you so much as look at them.

Or perhaps it’s because my mother doesn't wear perfume. I never got to try all the different fragrances as a child. As a teenager my first real experience with perfumes was at one of my girlfriends houses. She had DOZEN’s of perfumes. I adored trying them all and finding out which was my favourite.

It might just be the amount of perfumes on offer. The choice is always so overwhelming. So many beautifully crafted bottles in a variety of colours, and that’s before you get to the flavours. Musky scents, fruity scents and flowery scents…where to start?!

Our sense of smell is a powerful one. It can remind us of a particular person, a time of our life, food we love and also things we don’t love so much! Catching a scent can transport me back to a time gone by, for example an aftershave an ex-boyfriend wore or a perfume my Grandmother used to wear.

Wearing a perfume is like wearing an invisible outfit. It can say lot about you, whether you’re girly and feminine or powerful and deep and so it’s important to get the right one for you as it can weave a tale of your entire personality in just one breath.

Everyone has his or her own unique taste when it comes to scents and it’s important to find the right one for you. Here are a few of my personal favourites:
