Diptique

Diptique is a high-end Paris based line that producses scented candles and perfumes.

Their story began when three friends with the same creative passion joined together in 1961. Christiane Gautrot was an interior designer, Desmond Knox-Leet, a painter, and Yves Coueslant, a theater director and set designer. In 1968 they launched their first eau de toilette “L'Eau”.

Their lettering is now iconic and is androgynous in its design. I'd been dying to try out their candles after seeing the beautifully crafted glasses all over the Internet and I wanted to reuse them as makeup brush holders, I’ve seen people use them to hold cotton pads and ear buds too.

Although they come with a hefty price tag at £40.00 a piece, I decided to take the plunge and see what all the fuss was about. After burning my luxuriously scented candles right down I took out the wick, and then I filled my glasses with hot (not boiling to avoid shattering) water to soften and left them for a few hours. Most of the wax came right out and I was able to spoon out the remaining wax at the bottom of the glasses. I now have two Blue Peter style gorgeous, albeit a tad expensive makeup brush holders.

I purchased the "Menthe verte" (Green Mint) and "Freesia" 190g candles from here.
