New year, new you?

It's the start of a new year and for many the start of new resolutions (which are usually forgotten about by Valentine's Day).

I think it's great when people want to better themselves and set themselves goals to achieve, and personally I think that anytime is the right time to do so, not just at New Years.

Here's a few of my personal goals for the year ahead:

Be more organised

Sometimes those little annoying jobs are too easy to put off and pile up into a big pile of annoying jobs that seems endless. This year I want to not let those jobs turn into a seemingly unmanageable pile and stop putting them off.

Be more mindful

Mindfulness has become well publicised of late and is a great way to manage life in a fast paced world. My aim is to take 5 minutes out of my day to find peace and reduce stress.

Listen to and play more music

I've always had a love for music as do many others. I grew up playing the piano and saxophone in a variety of classical and jazz bands and this year. Of late my tinkering on the piano has wained and so over the year ahead I am going to rediscover my love of those 88keys and also listen to more jazz and classical music as well as the popular variety.

Travel

This is an area I need no encouragement in. In 2015 I went on five holidays abroad and visited 7 different countries (Germany, Austria, America, Greece, Spain, Wales, Cape Verde). I've always longed to go back to Australia where I have family and this year my aim is to either go to Australia or book it for the following year.

At the latter end of 2015 I rediscovered my love of books, I started to read before bed and this has not only brought me enjoyment and relaxation but helps me sleep. This year I want to broaden my horizons with my reading and not just focus on fiction but also read non-fiction and educate myself.

What are your aims for the year?
